Best skiing in NA. Highlands is steep tho, beware the double black of highlands.
Absolutely adored this ski resort! This was my favorite mountain in Aspen so far. Shoutout to four mountain sports and the tune lab for getting me in for a quick sharpen (special thank to Justin stove and Zach). Made sure I had a great time! Thanks highlands!!
Aspen highlands has some real great terrain for intermediate and advanced skiers. I was lucky to be there after a storm that dumped about a feet. The bowls and glades that day were simply out of the world
That steep Highlands Bowl! Hike up (to 12.3K) & have fun cruising back down. No snowcat running on my visit, but it’s only a quick little lap around the bottom of the hike.
From the top of Loge Peak lift (11675 ft) it’s about 700 vertical feet to hike to the summit. The first stretch you can glide down before taking off your skis/board & de-layering for the hike. Seems like 30/45 min would be a fast hike and 1-1:15 is a little slower pace to reach the summit depending on your fitness and acclimatization to the elevation.
Overall great runs and steep terrain. Did some laps on the runs after hiking & skiing the bowl. Love this place and wish I could visit more often. Not much for greens. If you like it steep, go here and Snowmass.
Skied the Aspen Highlands on the last weekend of the ski season. Not all of the expert terrain was opened. The snow wasn't great either unless you stuck to the groomers, but I did recognize how fast, narrow, and beautiful this mountain is. There are also tons of great tree and steep expert level skiing here as well. We haven't tried Buttermilk yet (it's mostly beginner terrain and park skiing), but we can all say that Snowmass, Ajax, and the Highlands are how we would rank the Aspen Snowmass mountains. All three mountains are tons of fun, making Aspen Snowmass our favorite ski area in the country, everything considered.
Great mountain, but catered mainly to hard terrain (double blacks). My fiancé did the highland bowl. It was awesome, but the hike up was the scariest part. Very thin/steep trail to hike on. I spent my time on blues and single blacks. I found the Patrol staff to be some of the friendliest ski patrol I've ever met. Got into a ton of conversations with various ski patrolers and got some great on mountain recommendations from them. Views from their cabin next to highland bowl are stunning! Stop by and say hello 🤗 Follow my Google profile for more reviews!
Amazing!!!! Even with low snow this season- it was great! No easy runs so kept out the “I don’t know how to ski, but I am here because my boyfriend/girlfriend/fiancé made me” people
I am writing to express my sincere gratitude to Dan and Pixie for their amazing kindness and support to help guide me to ski down Aspen Highlands on Monday, 12/12/2022. I am from the East Coast so skiing is totally different in the Rocky Mountains. I was leaving the fabulous Cloud Nine Bistro and I was looking for an easier route down the mountain through the beautiful Winter Wonderland. Dan and Pixie, Community Ambassadors embraced me with heartwarming courtesy, respect and helpful tips. I highly recommend them and the Aspen Highlands Ski Resort. You helped build my confidence and I loved the challenge. It was truly an incredible Aspen experience!
